Competition #15 - Addi
Hey I'm putting together something for this contest too.
![]() The Modelling is pretty much done, just thinking about positioning, composition and lighting. Oh and of course texturing. I'd really like some cc on my texturing, roughed out a worn paint radiator so far (no spec map just yet) ![]() Thoughts? (: |

What i think you should consider is some more consistensy in the wearing on the radiator.
I mean, if maybe an item would've caused flaking on the paint, it shouldve hit mroe than one of the pipes. Also there should be considerably less wearing on the back of the pipes and the pipes at the back. Otherwise it looks great so far, it will be interesting to see where this goes! |

Thanks for the comments, Kinda cheated with the radiator, the back has equal wearing but slightly different so I can rotate some of the pipes around so they have more variation without giving them all seperate UV space.
I'm pushing on with the texturing, ![]() ![]() More to follow ![]() |

Nice work on the books. I got another set of minor crits
![]() First, Are there no titles on the books? On the Blue and Green books the pages are too yellow, even if they are old and worn out they shouldn't be that saturated and dark. What i also noticed on the blue book is that compared to the other two books it seems quite new on the outside, almost untouched. Maybe you should have some spots where the colour is less saturated and the material is more worn out, like on the green one. I dont know if it is a waste of texture but it would be nice with a normal map for the outside of the books that usually or some other metal than paper, that has some kind of leathery surface. Anyway i'm looking forward to your future updates! |

![]() Here is the toilet with a diffuse map and alpha for the water. Thinking I might add more dirt to the bowl, where the bowl meets the base it has some grunge though (cant see it in this screengrab) (also might tweek the geometry, the edge is pretty sharp, maybe mess with smoothing groups...) ![]() Last edited by Addi; 03-09-2008 at 01:04 PM. |

I'm still here lurking ^^
The first thing that comes to my mind when i see the toilet is that it should have a plastic seat on top of it, open or closed. That might help you cover up the sharp edge as well. What i also can see is that the dirt inside the toilet is too dark, it shouldnt be completely black or brown. Even if toilets get dirty you have to think of the fact that there is water flushed there every time it is used (assumably ) It is also missing some vital details like the seat i already mentioned, a flush button and screw attaching it to the wall or floor. Consider when you light it that it should be quite specular or shiny on areas where it is now dirty since it is porcelain. Same about the water, don't make it too matte.Still looking forward to more updates ![]() |

The wall texture is really great!
One tiny thing you can thing about is the dirt on the top of it, it is great but you could vary it (even) more by trying to make it a little less visible overall, and also have it fading more in some places. Another that the eyes hangs up on is that the inverted 'mountains' are almost exactly the same width, they could be a bit more changing in size on the X axis so to speak. gosh, i suck :\
started work, no time :\ but i refuse to let this one go! friday night and all saturday will be dedicated to getting something decent enough to hand in :P oh btw, its the jokers cell in arcane asylum ![]() *note to self, make cards dirty and old, also, add actual edge black lines not just max's edges turned on :P |
