Competition #14 - LampRabbit
Hey Guys,
Thought I'd better show my piece before it’s done so I can get some crits etc. The insect I have chosen is a Weevil (Curculionidae) He's a Demolition expert, blowing stuff up with his dynamite and remote mines, shooting grenades from his grenade launcher arm and at last resort or when provoked his back Sea mine type detonation device will finish the job. ![]() I’m currently texturing ATM only got a few days left Gaahh. I'm also trying a backwards approach to normal maps (if I get time) painting the texture first and then sculpting the texture space (a plane) rather than the model .. Just for time reasons and the easy of seeing if the normal map even helps bring out the forms. Low poly model - Tris 999 (will use the last tri on the ignition of the dynamite) Low Poly Model ![]() UvLayout ![]() Props ![]() Crits and comments welcome. Looks great man, the silhouette reads great. One thing that occurred to me when you said you were using the last tri on the detonator is I wondered if it was gonna be an alpha mapped thing - if it is bear in mind that double sided faces count twice in this comp, so it would be two tris. It's fresh in my mind as I just remembered at the last minute yesterday after having done my low res
![]() Nice work |
