Here is my model at its latest stage.

It is a mutated firefly that uses its light source to fire a laser style weapon, plus it can just give off light to reveal areas an such.

I think i got about a 100 tries left. Gonna play with the idea of making pipes lead into the lower light belly of my bug from the cannisters on its back. Next i am gonna unwrap it then mess around with making a simple normal map using Blenders sculpt tools.
