I have plans for a shield and spear. I decided to go low-tech for a tribal theme with a specific ability concentrated on maybe throwing explosive spear . More details to come.

good luck
coming along well i must say, but im with barbeerian on wondering how many tris you have left for weapons and basicly just how many have you used so far. The head seems to have alot of tris but i figure for facual detail you will need most of them, I like the form so the finished model should look nice. another question i have is, are you going for real looking textures or cartoon (cell shaded) style textures?

I have 948 tris on the character wich leaves only 52 for a weapon. I may have to cull some polys. I don't think I'm going to stick to closely to realism, but I don't plan to go all out cartoony. I'll have some prelims up in about 2 - 3 days of how texturing and weapon modeling are coming along.

It looks like you've got thickness to your wings, so you could pull back a bunch of polys by just deleting the border and other side to them. Unfortunately, double sided faces count twice in this competition so you would only save the polys that you cull from the border, but it'll definately be worth doing.
You could even have the wings as just single quads, but it'll make for less efficient uv space, so it really comes down to a decision between more efficient mesh or more efficient texture. As has been said though, it looks like a nice start, the tribal thing will be an interesting direction too. Could have some nice tribal war paint ![]() |
