haha after pulling all my hair out I finally got the ambient occlusions baked, thank god for ahopps tutorial he posted. the butt section is about 2 million tris and dies in maya when you try to do transfer maps for your AO. and then I had some real strange errors so ended up making about 3-4 maps on the body and photoshopping em together.
just gotta sort out the wings and I can start the diffuse. I reckon im gonna lose even more hair as the deadline approaches ![]() before i sorted out the butt to body ambient occlusion ![]() haha ok heres it with the butt section sorted, sorry on crazy posts ![]() Last edited by crazyfool; 07-22-2008 at 05:54 PM. Impressive! This is turning out really well, and the AO shows off your work nicely.
I think that the detail in the leg joints where they meet the body are a bit too small, though. They don't read well when looking at the whole character, and in an action shot where the bee is not filling the frame, the detail will be lost completely. Simplify them and add more depth, and they will pop like the tail does. Looking forward to the color pass. |

lil update, got lots to do and only one evening to do it
got a really busy weekend. please completely ignore the wings as they are poo and only place holders and the colours changing as soon as i get back from work. ![]() im gonna look into the legs, definetly the weakest part me thinks. the top 2 renders are mental ray and the bottom is a viewport screengrab i have been working on a ds title all month so its nice not making textures 32x32 haha but then again it does make you treasure every pixel you got ![]() ![]() |

omg, i realy like this one!
I like the colours you have chosen! but maybe replace the black with a dark grey or something, because you camouflage some of the details with it! keep it up you're my winner ![]() grtz |
