Yea most people have the problem to use the Zbrush interface, but when working with it quite often it will be like second nature.

Really looking forward after you zbrushed it.

A small update:


I've got 5 legs left to sculpt and havent started on the diffuse or glow so dunno if I will be able to finish this in time since I also will be quite busy this weekend. In any case, I will try to finish it just for the experience. *edit* I'll probably just mirror the legs, so 1 leg left to sculpt */edit*

Thank you for the kind words, it really helps with the motivation after getting stuck in zbrush

Im somewhat happy with both the highpoly and the lowpoly now but I repeatedly fail with making the normalmap which gets loads of artifacts, holes and whatnot.

Highpoly:

I've tried baking with both max and xnormals and guess the problem lies either in that the highpoly and the lowpoly are to different or that the cage is set up incorrectly.

here is the normalmap of just the main body of the bug, but it shows rather well how the maps are turning out.

Here is my final render


I would like to have spend more time on the diffuse and specular but I had other things to do as well and had to squeeze it in when I could find the time for it. I learned a great deal from this competition (especially about normalmaps and baking) and Im looking forward to the next one.
