I would suggest keeping the flaps lined up to completely cover a row of lights, instead of covering only half of a row. Also, the flaps should be just large enough to cover the lights, not the entire width of the wing.

coming into the home stretch. thanks Pearson, nice to get some feedback. changed things up a bit with the light arrangement and started experimenting with a glow map.
