Been kinda busy for the last couple days, finally got a decent start on the model, still needs the wings stinger and facial features. I also need to tweak a couple polys that are getting a little funky. Any comments would be helpful, especially any concerning the overall anatomy/proportions of it

rrguitar, looking good, could you post some more angles? top, side, bottom?
would it help your poly count to do a visor instead of spheres? http://blogs.venturacountystar.com/d...es/robocop.jpg thinking similar to chris89, wondering your plans to add mechanical parts ala robocop? keep going! :-) |

You're off to a great start, and I like your concept.
You can save some polys by making the wings a simple quad and using an alpha map to shape the wing. Also your legs seem a little heavy. They look to have 6 or 7 sides, but I think you can get away with 4 or even 3 if necessary. Good luck! |

thanks for the advice
chris2 and giles: yeah i'm gonna do the mechanical parts in the normal map, the only non organic part i have is the little bipe going from the back section to the middle section (thorax and abdomen i think they're called) I think I'm going to have the bck section be compeltely mechanical and have half of the middle part be covered with a mechanical covering Pearson: Good advice with the wings, as I was going to use an alpha map on them anyway so that'll defiantely shave off a few polys. also the legs actually are only 4 sides, i could probably cut down on the sections but I'd probably lose some of the form so I'll keep them the way they are i think. here are some more angles: http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a239/jaydrox/viewportrender.jpg |

so I've decided im not really liking the way this is turning out so I'm goin in a different direction, I've started work on a walking stick, because as far as ive seen no one has done one yet and i like the idea. The idea is for him to be a spy and do reconnacaince. he's gonna have a little backpack with an antennae, some binoculars, and a little headset, i have some decent proggress on the low poly so far and its only at about 350 tris right now so i have a lot of room to work with, hopefully it'll be up soon

so I have a basic model going so far for my new idea, and im really happy with how its turning out, i like the idea more and its turning out a lot cleaner, and plus i still have 500 tris left to work with =] i still have to do straps for the back pack and some binoculars, then ill probably make the legs four sided and give them a little more form. any ideas for some more equipment this guy could have?
