If I see well, your insect is like a "robot", I mean more méchanical than organical, thus made of metal like those helicopters.
In order to help you, I would say you should add scratches and try to make the texture looking more metallic than plastic (It's the feeling I have at the moment when I look at your texture) the specular map is going to help aswell. Also, you perhaps could add some extra details (just a suggestion or ideas I have) like bolts, a number like we could see on planes to derterminate what sort of thing (vehicle) it is. Though we can't do vehicle so... But globally, what I want to say is you should add more details ![]() |

You're doing great so far!
I'm kind of torn about the wings, though. Because he's a machine, it doesn't seem to fit that he has organic wings. You might try making the wings solid green, then paint on the cell patterns of the organic wings as a sort of camouflage. I also think the eyes need more details in the texture, either faceting like real eyes, or bolts around the edges like a helicopter cockpit. Also, remember that for camouflage of flying things, it is designed to look like the ground if viewed from above, and look like the sky if seen from below. So the surfaces that point down should be a light blue-gray. You can see good examples of that in the first three photos here. Keep it up! |
