Competition #13 - Stusaysyo
Um, okay first competition, so I'm not sure how well I'll do.
Kind of going for a space version of some world war biplanes. Getting most of my inspiration from Porco Rosso for the fighter and Howl's Moving Castle for the mothership. Any thoughts so far. Just fleshing out the general shape at the mo. |

I think implementing wings is cool, but I feel you'll lose out doing it the conventional way. Think more in the sense that space has no gravity and that you can still retain the style of wings without having to put them perfectly horizontal. Cheers & good luck

Spaceships are the most versatile topic there is to design concepts for: no gravity or aerodynamics so the options you have for shapes are so much more free and open than any other sort of vehicle. That's why I really have to agree with Req.
Doesn't mean you can't use old school styling like the Savoia. here's an excellent example of the Savoia's styling reinterpreted: Porco Rosso Fanart 01 by ~torokun on deviantART I think what you're doing is copying the grand shape features, you shouldn't do this, instead design a strong shape/silhouette first, then fill it out with styling features like you see on that car. One thing I wouldn't do for the general shape, is attach everything with lots of those flimsy bars, like those planes from the olden days. I think a spacefleet needs to look a little more sturdy than that ![]() |
