Competition #13 - Godo

Ok, I sketched out some silhouettes today and did some quick modeling in max to play with the shapes a little bit (just sketching it out in 3D to help flesh it out in my head).
Here's a concept for the fighter:

and the 3D silhouette:

I notice personally, that the front and perspective are very strong IMO, but I think the top and side profiles have weaker silhouettes, any crits here would be appreciated. I'll keep working it out.

Finally, the battleship concept -

Will do a mock-up for that tomorrow like I did for the fighter. Then I'll start detailing the concepts on paper or p-shop.

Crits, plz!

I agree with Master Doylle. Have to add the top and front silhouettes look great, just that side view looks crappy. Looks like it has been squished. Silhouettes are perfect for getting the idea across and fleshing out the concept. your 3 out of 4 in my opinion. All you gotta do is get that side shot looking as good as the rest and your on your way to modeling my friend. By the way, I really like the concept for this guy, it has a unique feel, unlike some others where you can just say " yeah thats from so and so". Good job man! I have checked out all the posts so far and this one seems to be in my top 3 as far as concepts go. Looking forward to you progress, GL!

For the ' wings ', in the side view I think they would all look much neater if they were angled backwards a bit. I would also experiment at bulking out the center piece, and extending it downwards further.

Loving the style, dude

Got a sweet semi-organic style going on, especially on the carrier.

For the side-view silhouette of the fighter, you could try sweeping the fins back further, or adding sensor arrays on the front or back of the ship.

<3 the fighter design. It really speaks to me. If I had that design I'd say "screw what ever other fighter designs I can think of" and just do it

But then again, that might be why I suck, cause I'm not patient/creative enought

Quick update before I hit the hay here:
I sketched out some more details for the pod area and tried to enhance the profile of the craft. Didn't get to update it in max yet. I think it makes it look a little more aggressive. We'll see what happens to the other views when I get the 3D updated.

The new side profile looks much better. Can't wait to see the updated model.

I would perhaps shorten the height of those wings on the top. Seems to unbalance the ship compared to the length of it.
Nice improvements though.
