![]() ![]() This is what I'm talking about in #1 I just made a solid object, but it was really confusing to manipulate. in #2 I made it from a chopped up sphere, and it looks a little easier to manipulate, but there's more polys... I mean is there gonna be some kind of give/take here in regards to that? |

The problem you have is that you're thinking 2D in a 3D world. Never ever use that technique you used, where you line out your contour, and then extrude. It's evil, it's everything you don't want, it's almost like using booleans...
![]() I know i said to work on 1 viewport, and then work from that, so i can imagine that this is a bit confusing now. Therefore i made a quick mockup of how i'd construct your shapes. Note that there are many ways to do this, and that this is most likely not the best one, but it works for me. Also, it's missing alot of the detail from the concept, and it still needs alot of tweaking to get all the loops and vertices in place, but this should give you an idea... http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/3600/mockupqi3.jpg cheers

i must say i agree with doylle, ur modeling technique needs some improvement... but the most important aspect about ur concept is that it lacks some shapes, u got the main shapes but u need some more details in it, as a 3d model i mean... aniway i think that ur doing a great ship and i hope we can all see it ready and textured

Ok. I've got some progress on the low poly - please crit as much as possible.

It has the same "key elements" indeed, but it has enough custom stuff to to pass i think
