Competition #13 - zombibubonik

I'm going for a Battlefleet Gothic (WH40K) Imperial ship feel, here's the first concept sketch with details of all the ship's seperate parts.

hey man. i love the BSG ships/ think if your looking for that style i would go for the idea of one of the capital ships.. thats where the style comes out best. i would take the cockpit out and put in a bridge... add another bank of guns and put the lights of the quarers in 4 rows along the top edge. but its your design just my take on it is all

Hello,

Nice design, love the details in the drawing. I would only make it a lot bigger... With the cockpit with that size, if gives the impression that it is not that big. Remember, this must be MASSIVE!

One small tiny detail... I'm not sure about those landing gears... on my personal taste, such a huge spaceship would not have been intended to land on planets but stay all its life in orbit.... just a personal thought again...

Nick.

Hmm, I don't think it has any way to defend itself. Maybe you should add some guns?

Ok, seriously now, I really like your 'Cathedral' bridge. It reminds me a little bit of the really big Star Destroyers in Star Wars (I forget what they're called, haven't watched those movies in so long). It's a bit more interesting than the standard tower bridge.

Also, I was thinking you should maybe replace all those little front guns with like 3 or 4 really big ones, maybe built-in pretty solidly into the front of the ship. You've got plenty of smaller ones. It's something to consider I suppose.

Ok bear with me here, I drew this on the train so it's a bit shakey and more than a bit rushed, but I think you get the general idea.

Well I figure if it's gonna be a battleship, why waste time being sleek and minimalist when you could put a gun on every empty surface?

lol. i like the idea i think the drawinf needs to be a bit more refined. .. try to remember you have a fairly tight poly count and a VERY small texture map... i wiould say recess the front guns into the armour.. think like the front of a spitfire. or torpedo tubes on a sub.. subtle. and as for the guns on the side.. remember this ship is broadside.. you want those guns pointing OUT not down you could maybe have a slight protrusion and have them sat on it... look at the chaos BFG ships ... i love the way the big batterys are formed on the hades

Ok I'm pulling the same trick I did last low-poly competition and going in the complete opposite direction after I've already started, here's the new concept, plus a shot of it inverted because I think it looks cool that way, too
