Competition #13 - Insulaner

Good evening fellow contestants..

I started with the low poly of the Fighter by closing my eyes, not drawing a concept and hoping that it turned out to be an acceptable shape.

The style I wanna archive is quite an industrial style, with lots of edges and hard surfaces.

So, here it is..

Any crits desperately welcome.

Very nice indeed. I have nothing so far. A good clean base to work from. I see we are going for the same style then. Should be fun to see how you design your mothership, cause I like the fighter design as it is now. Maybe I would make the two "engines" a bit shorter - especially os they dont reach out infront of the cockpit - but then again, thats just what I would have done.

Similar comment here from another thread, I'd probably angle the wings upwards just slightly, then also pull the thrusters outwards as the whole piece has a very uniform feel, as if it just got carved out of a rectangle. Remember, it's space, you can do the whackiest things because there's no such thing as gravity Regarding the style, feels fighter/scout which is nice but it needs something on its backend for the main body. Keep it up!

Thanks,

I actually wanted them to be longer than the cockpit to make it look more beefy and aggressive.

I think the design of the mothership will be a mixture out of the "Pillar of autumn" and other ships of this kind, adapted of course, so it fits the design of the fighter.

/e: req, I actually have something in the back, you don't see it in the pic though. Anyway, I think I'm gonna have to redo the back, to make it look more appealing.

That might be a good idea too. Either make them noticable longer or shoter than the cockpit area - that way it will create more interest then if all three are basically the same lenght. Just play around with it, it helps
