Saddened to hear that, I thought it was quite an interesting design.
Good luck with your next design.

Ok... I'll wait for those new concepts!!! -- Just one thing: I like very very much that front part of the second ship you did.

The truth is that I liked it in my head - but when I played around with it on a model I hated it.

Haha, funny you should recommend that. They are at the core of my design especially the back/engine part will be pretty dominant.

Expect curves.

Anyways I just thought I'd pay my tribute to this outdated warship by posting some renders so people can get a feel for it (wireframe style - yea that are a lot of edges that could have been removed)
And since I was going for a totally different direction I thought they could maybe serve as inspiration to some of the other designers that was going for a similar style.

And here I have made a render of the development process if that is any inspiration.

Speaking of inspiration; you can always check out my posts here:

http://www.game-artist.net/forums/ge...paceships.html

There is A LOT of different styles and helpful sizes and such.

Have fun, until next update .

If you need some inspiration take a look at that link. Its a chart of all the ships in EVE until the realeas of trinity where some new ships where added.

I like the ship that you had originally, but I think you're right. Also it is very good that you decided to step out of your zone and try something new. Pushing yourself with something you don't usually make is a very good idea. You'll learn plenty from trying new styles.

Designing it is the fun part dude, so I'm glad your goin to be spending more time on that. It's hard to beat a well thought out model, and it removes alot of annoyance in the modeling stage as you can enter into it with a clear idea of how it will be. Thus making for a solid end product!

I'm looking forward to the concepts

I know. I have thought a lot about the concept I had, but stepping outside the comfort zone makes me think about stuff I usually take for granted.

I know it often seems like I'm rushing ahead when I start posting models but to quote myself:

And besides I think much more in "3D", so I like to explore concepts there - sure it takes longer than drawing, but then again we have a long time.
The time I spend on modeling is used pretty much the same way as people draw. I just better know how stuff looks in 3D, and the ability to adjust it right away in stead of drawing 30 curved lines to get it right on paper (and then I would have erased the paper to shreds)

I am not done with the initial drawings yet but I can reveal that my inspirations are:

- Star Wars (Slave 1 - Boba Fetts ship)
- Homeworld 2 (pride of hiigara)
- Warhammer 40K, Eldar style (especially helmets and vehicles - flacon grav tanks)
- Minority Report (Police helicopter)

For the mothership I have a idea that havent been used that much yet - the "fighters" are a part of the mothership, and they power it too.

More updates soon.

I'm not sure why but someone I think it'd be really unique if you went with a single large wing on one side as opposed to identical smaller ones on both sides.
