Competition #13 - Snipergen
Quick concept, need to add details, weapons, decals and dirt, but the idea is a 4 turbined fighter, fast, very free in it's movements etc... Please tell me if you like it, and how much poly's you would spend on this since I have no idea.

First of all, this is a nice style to draw your concepts, very clean.
The ship itself looks too much like a ground unit in my opinion, even though this might work out nicely for a fighter, it might be hard to transfer this kind of style to the mothership, so these two fit the same style. Another problem you might run into is the weapons. It looks like a very slick and round design so it might be difficult to really find a spot to put a weapon onto without it looking too much like someone glued it on. I like the way the turbines are connected to the body though. It looks like a very nice and technical way where you can put a lot of detail with a nice normalmap into. Good start.. ![]() |

Awesome concept, but i agree with Insulaner about the ground unit part. It seems like something from an fps, a droid or something. Prehaps you could lose the leg-ness and make them seem more like boosters?
Anyway, goodluck dude!

Im loving the style youve got going here!
Although again I agree that this does look very like a ground unit. Maybe think of putting these engine in the front and back of the craft, one at each side. I think that should keep a similar style. This then might leave some room for a weapon near where the engines used to be connected to the body, you could keep the gear/slider still there and attach a weapon that would be able to use the gear/slider to fire infront and behind. But good luck dude!

I agree, too much of a ground unit feel, put some winglets or tail parts on it, integrate the boosters a bit more with the whole package. Also, don't worry about weapons, fixing that is easy: just sticking a huge cannon onto it always looks cool, doesn't have to be integrated or streamlined at all.

Thanks for the kind responses guys, and they are true. However, I just read that it can be a scout unit too, so I'm going to change the fighter to a scout (explore the planets the mothership flys by), and I like that it looks like can act like a ground unit too. I will draw some poses of it in the flying position but this is the landing position
![]() I will rework the ship a bit, but this is the idea I have of it. Ok mothership now, gogoogoo |

I like your engine design a lot, and the way you use black white.
I dont know why, but this agile design (especially the engines) reminds me of HL2 single player. I am loving the scout design as well, even though at the configueration you have put the engines in on the drawing it makes it look a bit like a gound unit. I can see it animated in my head, and I am loving the maneuvers it can pull off with the degree of freedom. I am not a fan of the sleak and curved design - but that is just me (I'm more of a industrial, metal heavy guy - just look at my thread). I'm sure you'll get far with this concept, so keep at it ![]() |
