i would really try and work your concept out in 2d first. Especially on areas that you arnt sure exactly how they should work. Its a pain, and i always like to jump right in also. But i always regret it once i start. Anyways just a thought. Good luck to you!

I usually do that too, but this time I had an idea for one of my ships I just had to model right away before I forgot the dimensions and hight jumps - frankly it was quicker to model the concept in 3D than draw 3 drawings to get the idea down right. I'm almost done with the hull of my cruiser - some analogs/tribute to the beginning of powered shipping in there too.

i think you should really concept this bad boy out the idea is awesome really like it but you should really concept everything to see how the final piece will look like instead of trying to do the same in 3ds max cause it'll take longer in 3ds max
good luck with your entry, i also have some awesome spaceship ref for you check them out :http://www.finalfantasyxionline.com/...ns/Airship.jpg http://www.tranism.com/weblog/images...airship_02.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/kevinmacleod...wkconcept1.jpg http://screenshots.filesnetwork.com/.../yuriscrn7.jpg |

I would agree with these guys, get your ideas down on paper and then start to experiment with the silhouette and design. Force yourself to draw at least 10 thumbnails sketches thats are subtle variations of your original design and I garauntee that you will come up with some ideas that wouldnt have occured to you just from modeling
The water battleship is a nice idea, but this is a long competition with plenty of time to concept |

1. Looks a bit boring, nothing interesting and could be an American battleship that exists for the seas.
2. Looks heavy, and quite cool 3. Ok, but you can't see in front of you because the front deck blocks your sight ![]() 4. I'd go with this, or work this a bit more out. I like this and the back of it looks a bit evil in my opinion. Good curves on this one. Some nice ideas dude ![]() |

Cheers Snipergen, I like no.4 as well, im silly really, no.3 + 4 face right and the others face left.
I just had this idea, as im going with sea vessels in the sky, what about the fightership being a uber-modded submarine? im not sure how it would work quite yet ill have to investigate.
