Competition #12 - showNOmercy

Late attempt here but I'm going to give it my best. Doing a walk-up ATM, I didn't notice anyone else doing this so I'm going to bust one out. This will be my first real attempt at doing a texture with diffuse/spec/normal/glow... I'll be asking some questions for sure.

I think I need to give more UV space to the main part of the housing yes? The UV's are put together, they just need to be laid out. As it sits, it's weighing in at 704 tri's so I still have a few left to play with. Thinking about modeling the security camera behind a piece of glass, this should eat up a good bit.

C&C please.

Here's the final UV layout but I'm kind of laughing at myself here. I got all this way and realized I haven't modeled the card slot. Shouldn't be a big deal to get that in there. Next I'm going to do a high poly version.

Haven't got anything to critique about the modelling, seems its true to the reference. The cardholder slot could be done with a normal map if you are doing a high poly version. Is the side 'vent' going to be done in the high poly version or just part of the texture?

Looking forward to seeing it progress.

Looking solid, tight UV. Off to a good start

Yeah, I was going to do the card slot in high poly and do a very crude low poly version to give it some kind of shape. The vent was made in the high poly model as well, I figured this would be good enough. Time wasn't on my side this month, you can read my whinny post below! ;-)

Wow time flies and here I am without an entry. Bah, I really wanted to finish this piece and was looking forward to getting some solid crits on the texturing. I managed to get most of the work done on the high poly model but thats as far as I got. I haven't been putting enough time aside for me to work on 3d stuff and it shows... Enough crying by me, lol.

Best of luck to all the entries.
