my advice is use max if you still have it, to make the normal maps and to snap the final render with them on. If you're planning to alpha your water (the only way to make it look proper), the planes you set up are just too thin for that...

thanks for the comments and crits
@laughing_bun CRAZYBUMP is exactly what i was looking for, i spent hours searching for something the other night and this works great @fabiodan i no longer have max, it was a trial version that i was using while going to school, so im stuck using maya for my normals/rendering. great point, ill have to see if i can find some more polys to delete to be able to add more polys to the water to get a more realistic effects using the alpha. got any pointers on how you would go about doing it? |

attack the fishes on the top of the fountain with welding techniques. they've too many triangles... also remove some edge loops on their base. if you are going to have a normal map, then you'd do well to remove one of the edge loops on the side of the fountain's lowest base, and reduce the amount of segments of that base standing on the water.
