The Ultimate Street Prop - Rules & Specifications

Theme

The streets are everywhere and so many various objects populate them ! Be it benches, wastebins, streetlights or fire hydrants, there are so many objects to choose from. Your task is to choose a single piece and pack as much detail and style as you can within the requirements given. Creativity (be it era or style) is welcome as long as it's clearly identifiable as a street prop in the end.....

Prize

The beginning of next month we will be releasing our GA.Net T-Shirts (no worries, we're keeping price as far down as we can) and the winner of this competition will receive one for free. As for the banner above, no worries, we would never give you a boring white t-shirt !

Specifications

Very generous for the theme at hand, so play smart !

Maximum Triangles -

1000

Maximum Textures
1024 x 512 Diffuse
1024 x 512 Specular (optional)
1024 x 512 Bump / Normal (optional)
1024 x 512 Alpha (optional)
1024 x 512 Glow (optional)

Submission Guidelines

Entry Deadline is the End of Sunday the 21st of October GMT +-0 as time zone.

Work in Progress should be posted by yourself in a seperate thread named by using the prefix "Competition #12" and your Username as thread title, i.e. "Competition #12 - requiem2d". This is not required, but if you are working with complex normal maps or detailed textures, you may want to receive some advice before submitting.

Final Submissions should be posted by yourself in the thread titled "Competition #12 Ultimate Street - Submissions". Please note that to be able to submit, your entry must be a complete piece. Only one entry per contestant & no use of assets previously created (photosourcing pictures taken by *yourself* is permitted).

Provide the following -
  • Beauty Render of Final Piece 800x600 (you may make alterations in Photoshop as long as they do not significantly change the original piece, i.e. dodge, burn, blur, sharpen, levels. Use of environments are also allowed)
  • Link to Wireframe of Final Piece 800x600
  • Links to all texture sheets used (original sizes)
Only your beauty render should be displayed in your post within the submissions thread, all other images linked to. This is so that the thread remains organized. Failure to meet the above or incorrectly post your submission will be brought to your notice a single time, if the issue has not been fixed by the contest deadline, the entry will be eliminated.

Game-Artist.net reserves the right to amend any of the above during the course of the Contest. If you are in the top 3, expect to be asked to send in your model.

Good luck to all !

GA tee-shirts!? Classy.

Nice choice of theme, I'm sure it will see a zillion submissions, I'll try and think of something decent to enter with, haven't entered a competition in a little while..

Aye and good luck to all .

Wow.. 90% of the time will be spent trying to out think each other as what the best random fixture on a street could possibly be!

Question, does a bum count? haha.. I'll be coming up with a serious entry now...

I'm not awesome either, but these challenges are defiantly the way to learn and get the skills you have to work to get.

That said, I have the perfect prop hahaha... I'm keeping it a secret as long as I can hah
