Competition #11 - Reeke

Started yesterday, it will be an alien building that plops out new offensive units through the tube. Working on the high res version now.

Note: the texture res here is two 1024x1024's, im using those for 'folio shots and resizing them to 512x512 for the comp if i finish it on time.

Haha, trust Reeke to come out with the craziest entry in an competition. I don't really like the stalks or whatever coming down in front from the two extended... things, since they look a little plain and too inorganic. Too conveniently placed, maybe. The back could probably use mroe detaliing; some sort of noise addded to the normal map on the smooth parts, perhaps, unless you have a plan for that area.

Otherwise it looks wicked

Cool stuff, man.

For being quite a messy sculpt, the normals have come out nicely to you low poly

Looking forward to the diffuse/spec...

thanks for the comments, il see about making the back more detailed.

Something i didnt make clear, the structure isnt fully organic, its biomechanical - inspired by the work of artist h.r giger. He's most famous for designing the Alien from the alien movies.

I'm trying to give it that same kind of metal exo-skeleton feel.

Dreading how its going to look when downsized to two 512's

So I started thinking of using it as a vacuum cleaner... then it makes some *schllurrrbbsss* slimy dripply dropply sounds when it's sucking stuff in
