Competition #11 - Yin
So, here's what I've been working on... Not all that happy with it, but at least it's shaping up.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to change that much or redo anything because of lack of time I have to work on it right now... I'll keep finishing up the textures and call it done. Just posted to show that I'm at least working on something for the compo :] It's supposed to be like one of those buildings that give you power/electricity resource, needed to keep other buildings going (like radar in red alert and the like). This faction draws energy from nature... Or something like that. ![]() |

Thats an awesome design, really original and different to what everyone else is doing. I'm sure you could add more detail into that texture and perhaps some alpha'd planes in the vents for steam/ air, if you have the time.

That looks really awesome! I personally think the tree leaves could be a little less green, or changed or something, because right now they sort of clash and distract from the overall piece. They almost look like a photograph or something, which isn't bad on its own but it doesn't match with everything else.

Looking good! I know you said you can't change much, but I think it would be cool if you had some branches coming out of those holes, and beefed up the tree. Really gave it a crammed-in kind of feel. Right now, it doesn't really give me an impression of size; I think its because its missing branches. Don't get me wrong though, it looks really good!

looks good, nice idea too. my only crit would be that the normal map doesn't seem to be doing a whole lot on the base (textured version, looks fine in the solid color one)

First then, branches. That would have been great, but sadly my trilimit is up. I had to optimize(or compromise, depending on how you see it ;]) to get it down to 1500. As for the textures, they're still wip. The pipes/tubes is just a base color right now, even ![]() I'll look into the color of the leaves, but I think it goes quite well with the whole color theme right now. Steam is a great idea. But it should be made with particles or maybe animated texture. Maybe particles can be used as part of the "enviroment" for the beaty render? If so, I'll try it out ![]() Edit: Oh, and the normal map. I guess it works behind the scenes mostly... Check out a comparison: ![]() |
