Competition #11 - Piemaster

So i was looking around at some GDI structures and i ended up drawing a (rather crappy) concept of a Nuclear Research Facility. It (as you might have guessed) allows you to research nuclear weapons that you may use to blow stuff into pieces Not exactly aiming for something realistic.

Heres where im at right now, 1498 tris:

Wires

I also started on a high poly but Im not going to show it yet because i want comments on the low poly mesh first Any suggestions on changes to make it look better are very welcome

the design looks good, so keep going and letīs see some nice textures.

one questions about your windows:
is that "floating geometry"? do they actually float above the underlying surface or are they planar with the walls?
and why do you use them?

right now i imagine you texture the walls as a whole without windows and then assign 2 or 3 different window textures to the planes. hmm...

thanks in advance
and good luck

@Pacer: The windows are just slightly outside the walls so you are completely right there

Im going to work on the high poly right now, then uvmap either tonight or tomorrow and see if i can get a good normal map, so i should be starting on the textures soon

Ok, nice. It's better than first try. But the smoke-stack need to redo I think - The hole of smoke stack.

I like the hole actually. It's not realistic, but it doesn't really matter. But you should lose some polys in the tubes and use that to add more detail to the rest of the model.

i like the new one more too. I think a few less sides on the cylinders would have been better though. It would have let you add more details, which i feel like it needs a few more of.

I wonder whether it would look cool if you rotated the hole about 90 degrees. Just came to my mind for apparently no reason oO You know, right now its shape matches the building area and if you rotated it it would solve that continuity and it might be a bit more exciting or something. o.O

Very cool design, nice work. And yeah i agree the hole does look cool. It makes it seem more techish imo. Looks great, and coming along nicely. Looking forward to more!
