Competition #11 - sgv3dmax

I am trying this for the first time. But, i am sure to complete this on time. Currently looking for a good idea. I haven't played an RTS game yet.
Once i start the concept art, i will surely post in this thread. Good luck all.

lowpoly competition # 11_concept art

This is the concept art i came up with. Just a simple basic line-art. I am not very sure about the name to be given to the structure. I will work on the details after getting your comments.

I'm not quite sure what to say about it tbh. I kinda like the idea of a weapons bunker, but a building like that would probably be rather boring from the outside (aka concrete block). anyway, it's not like it can't be pulled off, just might be a bit harder.

the concept needs some interesting details in my opinin though, even if it's just 'standard' stuff like air intakes/vents or maybe a power supply that isn't linked to the main base.

This is an update of the concept. I am currently working on the model. Will post the clay render soon.

clay render

This is the first clay-render of the model. I have stopped modeling at this stage. Waiting for your comments. Currently the triangle count is 955, including the ground.

Hi sgv3dmax

It's very enjoyable to look at your work process and so far it's looking good. One thing I really like in this concept
ImageShack - Hosting :: concept02us4.jpg

which I think is missing in the model is the sloped entrance. I think if you rotate it and give it a sloped/arched form you'll end up with a much more interesting shape there.

I would also increase the size of those building supports, exagerate them a bit, till you almost get the sense your looking at a spider mechanism.

I you have a few more polies maybe come up with a more interesting crate, you know an arched lid or add a few bevels. They're very standard ATM I think.

Otherwise a really good job, looking forward to seing more

Thank you for the comments. I have modified the crates. Added a ladder at the rear end. It is made small because of the scale at which the model is supposed to be.

The tower windows have also been beveled to give better effect. The legs have been made bigger in scale.

Looks pretty good so far. I'm not sure about the crates; the one basically blocking the entrance especially seems a little misplaced and they both seem absolutely gigantic, but I'll wait until i see them textured because they might work out just fine.

basically, what i have in mind is not exactly crates. They are huge containers. I am deriving various combinations of shapes i could give for those containers. Here are some of the updates. Major change is in the ladders style and position.
