I'm going to have to say my top three picks are Doylle, StefanH, and Flam. There's a lot of amazing stuff on there though, I'm definitely impressed.
I really like the high contrast look in flams, the idea and the final result behind doylles, the lighting and texture work was very well handled, and StefanH did an amazing job in the amount of time he worked on it. All of these look like they're ready to be in game for me. I think weasel.acuh5o's raven idea will probably be the most underrated. It's a great concept, and I really like it, I'm just worried people will be too busy thinking about "first person shooter". Oh man, there really are a lot of amazing submissions this round... |

top three... flam, LOOM, and StefanH. Flams entry is just good, that all i can say about it, i don't see anything wrong there at all, its beautiful. LOOM just blew me away the first time i saw it, its boring, sure, but the texture work is fantastic. and StefanH has a great looking model and texture, unfortunately there where other with the same exact idea though.
I would really have liked to state the top three original concepts, but it looks like the entries that focused on originality lacked in other areas like textures or modeling, sometimes both. the more realistic the entry got the better it looked. all I'm saying is that i would enjoy seeing more "original" pieces. and yes, the turnout and overall quality is astounding. |

first of all, congratulations to all who have participated in this competition. 35 great pieces, which make it absolutly worth the efford for us to organise this kind of competitions.
I'm having a hard time to select a top three. On the one hand we have pieces with absolutely amazing modeling/texturing work. (LOOM, StefanH and Flam), but on the other hand we have the more original pieces, stuff we don't see in real life. (Yin, reeke, mist, weasel.acuh5o) I would bet on Yin for the first prize. I think he made the best original/good looking piece. But in the end it will be up to the judges to decide what they value most ![]() cheers |

My top 3 would be laughing_bun, StefanH, and Yin. I really like laughing_buns concept and texture work, Yins is definately the most game worthy, something you might find in a darker version of UT, and Stefan seems to have the most complete piece with excellent modeling, textures, and normals.
If anything it would be a close race between Yin and StefanH for 1st, leaning towards Yin for originality. |

tough choice, especially because the results are quite varied;
I very much like the simplicity of loom's apple sack, though it is a bit too simple. doylle's model is looking great, hardly any crits here, though it focuses a lot more on the base than on the pickup itself, but who am I to talk. flam's textures are a welcome change from the usual strong normal maps, and stefan's got pretty much the best model hands down. yin clearly has the best 'unreal style' health pack. I'd go with yin (best 'classic' model), flam (nice model that isn't too mainstream) and stefanh or doylle (can't pick, one great model, one with great textures). tought call for the judges, good luck with that :P

weasel, stefan, doylle in that order. Weasel has an original concept and the execution is as good if not better than anyones. Stefan probably has the best execution but the concept is so boring. Doylle's is quite good all around but Im not sure the concept is strong enough.
Lots of other great entries too. Loom has great textures but its very boring. Yin has a very complete design, but aside from the alpha work the textures seem really sloppy. Mist has a good model, but i think he dropped the ball on the texture side. Doofy has a fun concept but its too undeveloped. Nikwing had a cool concept too, but the execution is kind of boring. Reeke has a pretty good all around entry but its just too confusing to look at. Those are all the entries that really stood out to me. |

Stefan, loom and me
nah YinStefan’s model, normal, texture all executed in a awesome manner nothing can be faulted. Looks real and very professional Looms apple sack made me go "crap we loose" Great skin, normal and original design again perfectly executed. And finally yins classic pick up, this wasn’t one of my favourites at first but ill admit its grown on me, the model is fairly generic but the skin really brings the whole model to life. Well done to all contestants and good luck.

After seeing some of the entries, I can't believe someone's even mentioning me. It feels like I still has some experience points to gather before I can compare in quality. ^^; Anyway, I'd say the top places is a battle between Loom, doylle, StefanH and weasel.acuh5o. They all have crazy awesome pieces ![]() Designwise I really liked nikwing and tkaza, the "heart plants". |
