Competition #10 - doylle
Time for me to work on something realy fun, so here's my first wip for #10.
![]() I'm not realy sure which one of the two i'll finish, i like them both in a way. (like the left one a litte more though, the right one looks a little to simple imo). They're both around 1k tris atm, so i still can add some stuff. I would also like to make a high poly and bake a normal for this piece... to be continued ![]() cheers |

Dude, this is looking really nice. I love the way you have the old crappy metal, with the nice scratched corners. Something that simple is really working effectively. I hope you have more of that kind of thing
![]() I do prefer the redesign to the older ideas, too. Keep on mate. I want to see more, please! ![]() G

It's a nice model, and I kind of like the dark metal. the only crit would be, I have absolutely no idea of how one would use it?

Not a pickup?
Doylle,
Looks great and can definitely see it in game acting as an Energy unit you plug into and refill your own on board pack like in HL1/HL2 for example. However wasn't someone else told that their unit wasn't considered a pick up and I'm pretty sure they were forced to scrap it and start over (cannot find it no longer and forget who posted it). Would be nice to hear someone clear this up officially as it's possible a few of our entries would have been similar objects had they known they could do that. Thanks, Tats... |

ah, shoot. i forgot to add the player reference for this. Well, it's about 2.5 times the player heights, so you walk under neath it, and pick up the Three cilinders. once that happened, the outher shield comes down, the cilinders get replaced by new ones. When ready the shield goes back up...
I would like to animate this to, so that should explain it even more... ![]() /edit: @ Tatsuro: technicaly you still have to pick it up. it's not like one of thos HL2 machines on the wall where you plug in or something. I'll see if it needs to be changed... /Edit2: After some thinking and discussing we agreed that although it's still a pickup, it looks to much like a healt dispenser, and therefor i'll make a new design... cheers Last edited by doylle; 26-06-2007 at 06:18 AM. |
