Competition #10 - Talon
I wanted to side-step the sci-fi or realism stuff with this and go for a more unusual style of pickup.
I'm aiming for something you might find in American McGee's Alice or other twisted/dark games of the same nature. Something a bit cliched gothic style. It'd be either a simple health pickup or an invulnerability pickup (in that it'd freeze your heart and therefore your health). With some little soul butterflies flittering around it, too. Aw. ![]() ![]() |

Quick update. Really just some tests in mudbox, experimenting to see what the best way to get this effect is. Evidently, it's heavily WIP
![]() I'll probably start it again and maybe model in some of the ice crystals to the base mesh itself to make the mesh density more uniform and a little easier to work with. ![]() |

I love that concept
and I always liked butterflies but they might not fit with all that glowing stuff... maybe some blue fireflies ![]()

Hmm, I'll see about the butterflies. I kinda wanted them to be butterflies for the fact they could mimic the heart icon across their wings. And as if they're a species that is attracted to/feeds off the energy the pick-up gives off. Last edited by Talon; 21-06-2007 at 02:59 AM. |
