yer, i was thinking the same about the spare tris to be honest, however i doubt i'll have the textures space for anything viable ;>

here is the 7th? (i stopped counting) UVW revision O_o



tried to get as much texture space as i could for the important circular areas

the half circle is the under side of the pickup, a little less important.

many overlaps etc

any opinions this will be much appreciated i have been worried about texture space utlilisation tbh.

This looks good. You will never have 100% space used but as long as you're using most of it it should be good enough. This one looks good so far. You can still add small lights later if you need to. As you said there isn't a lot of space left for big things on the UV but many times I found areas where I could "borrow" UV space that is already textured and fits with my needs... so keep this in mind as well. I would start texturing at this point and if you find areas with problems you can get back and fix them easily. If you want more feedback on this post a model with a checker material on it so we can see the scale of the UVs and the distribution.
