Results!

The time has come to announce the winner for our 1st competition! The theme was to create a hacking device, regardless of genre or style.

Results:

Congratulations to our winner Zortech ! He won by a large margin and it was well deserved, Trident and BinaryHylo missed each other by decimal points coming in on 2nd and 3rd respectively, well done there again! Last but not least, congratulations to all participated but didn't place, you still finished another piece! Your time will come, keep working at it !

In recognition, I will also try to get mini trophy icons for the profiles of those who placed!

First of all, congratulations to all who participated. I had the privilege to be a jugde, so i'll write some thoughts on every entry, to make some things clear...
here we go:

tom.drin: clean design, nothing wrong with that. Biggest plus in your submission is your normal map. The two banana-plugs (that's how we call them, free translation) look a bit superfluous to me. Your texture looks a little plain in your final render, a sticker or a tag would be nice to break it i think.

fragger: The concept is ok, there's alot you can do with that, but the moddeling and texturing make your submission less eye-catching than it could be. There's not much left to say, other than that i suggest you post your work at GA.net to get feedback and go from there…

Zortech:Very nice piece of work, no real crits from me. Nice concept and texture, my favourite piece even though you're a moderator, and i kinda resolved not to like staff submissions over the other ones…

BinaryHylo: I like the concept, but it's a shame that you modeled so much, and didn't use normal maps. Those buttons realy beg to be made with normal maps. Other than that, no real crits.

Hilm:It looks like a very futuristic concept, which is quite cool. Your modeling isn't that bad at all neither, but your textures could use some more work. Also, your UVWmapping could use some tuning. There's quite some unused space that make's all other go blurry...

Trident: Very cool concept, it has a cool vibe. Normal map looks ok, some inperfections here and there. Your texture looks a bit 'chaotic', but looks ok in general.

Steady: For me the coolest concept. iPods are so popular, you can easely smuggle them around and use them as a hacking device. But as with binaryhylo, those buttons are begging to be normal mapped!

That's it. Thank you all for participting, and i hope to see you all in the next competition.

Hooray.

Thanks for the kind words fellas. Congrats to Trident and BinaryHylo for second and third place! Hope we'll have some more final submissions next time.
