3DS max placing objects question

Basically I have two objects, one is a tree and the other is a stub of a branch. I want to place the stub on the tree. But to make it easy it would be nice if I could place it like when you use 'autogrid' to place newly created objects (so it follows agains the normals of the other object).

So is there any way in max to place or align objects in this way?

This is a placement script that I used a long time ago while following a 3d-palace tutorial. Only credit I know to give for this script is to 3d-palace as I'm not sure who the author is.

You're welcome, glad I could help. :-) That is a really handy script, I had forgotten about until I saw your thread so thanks for the reminder.
