Maya: Detach faces like in 3Dsmax?
Hi there!
I'm trying to find a way to detach a selection of faces from an object and turn them into a new object. In 3Dsmax I would simply select the faces, hit detach and untickthe 'detach to element' flag. In maya I currently use 'extract', but this completely separates every subobject of the object in to loads of new objects, so that afterwards I have to recombine them into one object. Is there a way in maya to achieve this as easily as in 3Dsmax? Thanks in adcance! |

Detatch faces works, it's just annoying to select the new faces afterwards and it sometimes screws up the object's ability to rotate.
Best method for doing this is the following: Put original object in a layer Duplicate that object and put in another layer hide original Select faces you want on the copy object hold Shift and select all so you invert selection Delete. |
