Polygon limits for strategy games?

I'm curious if anyone has had any experience in the strategy game industry. I'm currently working on my portfilo and have a lot of high polygon 360/PS3 work and the chances of me getting a job in a company that makes games for those consoles is slim, meaning I want some low polygon work to show of my ability to make hand-held or strategy games. Does anyone know the typical polygon limits for the current generation of strategy games like Dawn of War II and Starcraft II?

My current estimations after looking around online are 1000-1500triangles 512x512 for games like Dawn of War, Age of Empires III and Supreme Commander.

May be something around 1500-2500 with 1024x1024 maps for games like Starcraft II and Dawn of War II? This would include LOD's to take the model down to around 300-500 and plenty of mip mapping.

What do you think?
