The comments that have been made kind of already covered what I wanted to say.
But Laughing_Bun hit it on the head, I would take your header gradient and desat the lighter color, its def reading as greenish. A simple dark blue to grey might be all you need.
Also, if you are absolutely set on having some kind of "latest work" section, I would suggest getting yourself a blog of some kind. There very easy to update and will usually give you around 3 gigs of free storage space.
