DrLenny great attempt considering you didn't have a tablet. it really shows what someone can do even with just a mouse.
I know lots of artists that have every piece of equipment needed to create the most fluent type of textures and they churned out crap texture after crap texture.
The texture you created is really good considering it was hand painted with mouse and then overlayed over several detail layers.
It takes talent to mimic something as detailed as the human hand by eye.
