Hello fellas thanks for the kind words and warm welcome.
Tiros: Ya the Cisco model I did happen to use a little be more photo resources then I usually do. On each project I'm given ampule amount of photography for reference to insure the model is 100% accurate and if needed I'm able to sample them for textures. Although I don't like doing that often, but in this models case I had to do. Do to the amount of labeling, boards, and plugs, I'd say the textures 60% photo resource on the Cisco model.
Doylle: Ya I wasn't sure if anyone would consider these models game art, I just figured because there real-time I'd post them up.
The models are actually used for two platforms. One is for the web, which the models are exported as a .VRML out of Max then converted into an .XMM file to be imbedded in to a Java applet for interactive web tours. The other is a 46" HD touch screen were the user is able to rotate, zoom in and interact with the model . Same exporting process is used.
I'm given a budget of 20,000 tris, but never use all of the budget. I like to stay under only because I like the challenge of keeping it low and plus for performance on the final out-put. For instance the Cisco model is 14,000 tris, I pasted a link below of the model that is live on the web. Give it a second and a imbedded JAVA window will pop up imbedded in the web-page and start the 3D tour, give it a spin.
