Open Attribute Editor for the perspective camera and set the Angle of View to 90
(window > outliner > select 'persp' > ctrl +A > Angle of View: 90)
Yes. The low rez base should be completely smooth when baking and whent he normal is applied (allows the normal map to use a wider range of lighting angles beyond what's modeled)
Edit: Wanted to add, yes, I plan to add a lot more color, and maybe find use for a glow map.
