you used to be able to get all the presentations from siggraph on a dvd, with the slides included. I got one from a couple of years back
other than that I would get a database password from your college and access white paper databases like Athens (there was one that dealt specifically with multimedia papers but I cant remember the name) where you'll find research papers published from major universities. Also most libraries should be able to get their hands on technology journals for you where the latest stuff is published
I think your more likely to find in depth stuff that way rather than hunting down info from large studios. Its not very likely they are going to want to share the meaty stuff
