Myles's Poly & Pixel Heaven
Too see my latest work, please go to the last page. Thanks! Ive seen lots of Sketchbook threads opening up recently, and it sounds kinda fun, so I think im gonna kick the bucket and make on myself. Hopefully we will see some kind of improvment in my work as time goes on ![]() So here goes nothing, my entry for the Speed Texturing competition which I hope to get some crits on and one of the prop models im working on for a UT2K4 map.

The grey looks like it's very low res, but the red looks good and not so low res. I think smoothing the noise away could help the grey areas become better.

The map itself looks coherent, but it's kinda hard to see all of the environment work you've done. (because of the fog
) Considering that it's UE2, the artwork does look solid.could you give us a little more info on the map? (singleplayer, multiplayer, fps, story, etc. If it's part of a story, then it looks alright, but for a pure multiplayer fps i'd add more cover and stuff like that... For the door. The material looks good, but the scale of the rust looks off. Maybe you could try to make it smaller, and a bit more subtle. J |

the big white paint thing at first looks like a sticker but then you realise its paint (if i'm correct), those numbers in the middle however make it look more like a sticker. Reduce the opacity of the rust perhaps?

. For the rust, I will keep it the same as the door is stood in part of a tomb, So i think the door really would get this much rust.Sure its paint, unfortunatly that render is awful for the glow which does make it appear like a sticker, check it out in the bellow pictures ingame.

the first two images in your post seem to be sharpened a bit too much.
Also the text on the gravestone is just a black text overlayed on the texture. While a true gravestone has it engraved. The door seems to be lacking contact detail on areas you would expect rust to be. Every hinge / bar the door has should have some rust dripping down. I would expect some oily stains here and there to keep the door functional Like doylle said the rust on top looks out of scale and honestly not really an area where i would expect rust to be. Maybe a slight strip if the door has been closed for ages and is on the outside where it continues to rain on it. |

You say that they should be engraved, I think you are right, but do you suggest I should use some sort of bevel to fake this in Photoshop? Ill keep what you have said in mind, but I intend to get the map finished ASAP ready for some more work. I hope to make some changes to the door soon. Thankyou!
