Hello all

I tried out a few models over the last few days but most did not work out so good and are not worth posting. But I did make this container. It’s only got a diffuse texture at the moment but I will make the other maps tomorrow (off to bed now). So let me know where I could do better. I actualy didn't to the Unwrap too well.

I will throw it into the Unreal map I am working on to see how it look just for fun.

hey mat, alright theres alot that could be done with that crate atm. Some AO (see the link in my signature if your using max), The crate could have a better sense of purpose - not just have random sticker stripes in the middle. -whats inside the crate? how can you show this - give it some perhaps beveled areas along the sides of the main panels or something like that. its an alright start but still needs alot more.

Thanks Sampson.

I have done a bit of AO before but that tutorial of your looks good so I will give it a read and I am going to read doylle's top 10 tips for textureing again. Just to keep things fresh in my mind.

sarge try to get some more overlapping uv's in there.
It is massive overkill to have every side uvmapped out that almost looks the same texturewise.
Be smart and efficient when it comes to uvmapping.
Try to get as much out of it as possible

Here it is with a few more details. There is a main lifting handle on both sides a vent at the front and two small handles on the lid to lift it off.

I sort of forgot about this for a few days but now I have come back to it. I think there is more to be done with the texture and I think some of the dirt looks a bit strange and over the top. I need to add some more detail to the handles, give them a different material etc.

Thanks

mat

I really need to start working faster at modeling, this should have been done in a day or two really

I think ure main problem atm is that the UV's are separate meaning your textures just dont merge together.
I suggest moving the UV map's so there together and make a map of a cube. Also yoJust ku have no real base texture, its just a plain grey,
Just keeping working.

Thanks man. Yea I am not sure why I didn't do that with the UV's and I should have! I agree with you about the base texture as well, I have been watching a few speed texture videos just now and its showed me a lot of different whys to do things so I am going to re start the texture once again, but first I shall fix the UV's.
