the chair is looking ace, very good work. nice presentation, too.

Not sure I like the character's head though. the body looks fine (I would have preferred slightly more curved palms), but the head anatomy is just too far off to count as stylized for me. some changes to the nostrils and eyes would most likely fix that though, might be worth a though if it's for the portfolio.

Also not a big fan of the head. Reminded me of Coneheads, and that movie scared me. So, I did an 8 minute paintover to show what I envisioned his head like, don't get mad.

I chopped off the top, gave him an island (islands are -awesome-), pulled the nostrils in just a little, eyes down and in a tad, as well as a smidge smaller, and took the liberty of giving him a last name and a love of ricecakes.

Also, the eyes look like they kinda angle up in the middle ^, but that could just be the angle of the shot.

Sorry if I butchered it, but that's what I envisioned it like when I first saw it...

I also love the chair! Would you be so kind to share the texture-sheet?
Your models always look so "seam-less". How do you that?

@harefort: Sure thing...

Texture Sheet
UV Seams
There's no big secret behind it. just place your seams on "natural seams" if possible. If that isn't possible, then i usualy cover the seams completly with dirt, or leave them completely clean (half dirt/clean usually works bad)

@pantsburgh: I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the head. I'll definitly change the nostrils/eyebrows. The flat head looks cool, but i also like the pointed head tbh. I already had to draw a tonload of drawings before I even started modeling him, so it would mean that i'dd have to do them all over again...

Thanks for the crits though

The "stains" on the seat do not look very realistic.
I could help you find some reference that might look better .
other than that it looks good

Your stuff is looking superb Doylle, wish I could grasp texturing half as well as you do. Would you mind (as if you don't have enough to do already ;-)) throwing together a mini-tut on how you setup your scene for rendering with all the maps you're using plus lighting and mats? Definitely no rush or anything, just if you have a spare moment and feel like helping a brotha out!
