Yes, the top is better. make that line or whatever it is come from one side and go to the other side... give it some nice flow. You can also make new smaller ones. And I would also add some more detail where it comes in contact with the floor. You need something to make the connection more interesting, something like the thing you have in the middle between the top part the the stuff from the middle/bottom - an edge or something like that.
